Amalgamate in the Weekly Dig -interview with Nick, Sadiya, Aurelio
http://digboston.com/experience/2011/04/amalgamate/
"There is no bouquet of roses or shy smiles. Instead, it goes something like this: technology meets art. Technology brings art back to its work shop and technology and art ravage each other for hours between sheets of metal in an orgasmic creation of sound, software and light. Technology and art spawn a hacked and hybrid family, both intelligent and beautiful—and on stimulating display at the Yes Oui Si Space.
Amalgamate, curated by record label and artists’ collective Vermin Street, is an exhibition of what happens when software programmers and engineers create art from palettes of algorithms and formulas, an interactive show with work from nine artists.

BIOGRAPHY:
Boston's Vermin Street Arts and Media is a record label, an artists' collective, a highly respected party production team, and a think-tank with its focus beyond the envelopes that others are pushing.
As the label, Vermin Street works hard to push new sounds in a climate where genres quickly become homogenous and redundant. Though never sacrificing quality to be 'new for the sake of new', the label keeps eyes and ears on the dancefloor.
The result of this hard work is a steady stream of floor smashing tracks that sound like nothing else around. So while other DJs rock every Rusko banger out there, discerning DJs will find in Vermin Street a unique catalog of secret weapons.
As a party institution, Vermin Street coordinates events, public and private, in clubs, forests, warehouses and festivals, to showcase some of the most crowd rocking, forward thinking artists in this Post-Rave, Post-Future world.
Rising from the Boston Burner community, the Vermin gang have become known for their coupling of sights and sounds, their ability to pair sonic experiences with unbelievable sight-specific installations like complex light-rigs, ball pits, and over-sized video projections.
People often ask label owner/manager Nick Colangelo, "Who is Vermin Street?" The answer is not easy, as it is not a handful of people who can be singled-out.
Music producers, DJs, VJs, visual artists, graphic designers, computer programmers, film producers and directors, decorators, clothing designers, chefs, scientists, engineers and artist coordinators all make up the community that Vermin Street draws its strength from.
