About Share
Share.tv is a game of exquisite corpse, a surfing club, a salon, an open-jam, a beautiful thing, an intrepid community, and an exercise in curation in a completely digital landscape. If you don't get the concept, you will soon.
About Share:Global
Share is a community for portable performers founded in 2001 by Barry Manalog, geoffGDAM and Newclueless that provides an open space for knowledge exchange and audio/visual performance.
Currently, Share events take place in cities around the world -- you can find a Share event near you via the list on share.dj.
Patrons are encouraged to show and exchange ideas freely, giving each other feedback, catalyzing development of techniques and philosophies in new media. At every jam, which is always open to the public to watch and participate, participants bring their own portable equipment or instruments, plug into the system, and improvise on each others' signal and perform live audio and video. The space is always equipped to accommodate up to 8 audio performers at a time, and video can be projected by as many VJs as there are projectors. About roughly halfway through the jam, all public performers stop playing, and cede the floor to that evening's guest artist(s), who presents an audio-visual performance set. The open jam kicks off again, this time started out by the guest artist(s), with the participants/spectators joining in.
